What Menu Pick is

Menu Pick is a directory of restaurant menus. For each place we list, we try to answer three questions before you walk in: what is on the menu, what does it cost, and are they open right now.

Most listings are compiled from public sources — the restaurant's own website, its public business profile, and menus photographed in store. These listings are unofficial. We are not affiliated with the restaurants shown, we do not take orders or reservations on their behalf, and we say so at the top of every page.

Restaurant owners can claim a listing at any time and edit it themselves, or ask us to remove it. Claiming is free and there is no paid placement.

How a listing gets published

  1. Collected. Addresses, hours, service options and menus come from public sources. We record which source each field came from.
  2. Transcribed. Menu items and prices are typed out from a photograph of the menu, not paraphrased. Where a price is unreadable we leave it out rather than guess.
  3. Checked by a person. Before publication an editor confirms the restaurant is still trading and that the details match the source.
  4. Dated. Every listing carries the date it was last checked. Listings we cannot confirm are marked unverified rather than published as fact.
  5. Corrected. Anyone can report an error. We aim to respond within five working days.

The full detail is in our data and editorial policy.

What we do and don't do

The second column matters as much as the first. A directory is only worth reading if you know where its limits are.

We do

  • Date every listing with the day it was last checked
  • Name the source of the menu on the page
  • Let owners claim, edit or remove their listing for free
  • Publish diner notes only from people who tell us what they ordered
  • Link out to Yelp, Tripadvisor and Google rather than copying them
  • Correct mistakes publicly and keep the corrected date visible

We don't

  • Sell placement, ranking or "featured" badges
  • Copy review text from other platforms onto our pages
  • Present star ratings from elsewhere as if they were ours
  • Take orders, payments or reservations for restaurants
  • Write in a restaurant's own voice on an unofficial listing
  • Publish a price we could not read on an actual menu

Reaching us

Different things go to different places, and each has a response time we hold ourselves to. See the contact page for the full list, or write to hello@menu-pick.com if you are not sure which applies.
